This are guide show some tricks to minimize expenses, maximize time and avoid problems into the airports. This are specific for fi-upm students, but usefull for people arriving to madrid.
1. Accommodation
The better places are near to metro stations, specially, Aluche, Principe Pio, Colonia Jardin and Bohadilla. You can rent a department 600-800 euros or you can rent a room (250-350 euros), any way you must sure that the montly fee include internet, kitchen use and laundry.
2. Time
March to July, september to november are the months with the most friendly wheater, I suggest you to plan your trip in this months, its very recommended that you arrive to Madrid in the begin of the last week of the month in this way you can minimize your expenses in your transport.
2. Transport
When you arriving to the airport, go to the metro ticket's machines and buy the 10 tickets metro (9,50 euros). If you have a friend in madrid ask him waiting for you.
You must buy a Monthly ticket (60 euros), that include the zone B2. This montly ticket is valid in the metro, renfe and bus transportation in Madrid. Renfe is faster. Renfe and metro always are on time and easy to use.
One time that you are in Aluche, change to the bus transportation and take these lines 571, 685. This left you in the campus of the fi-upm.
3. Money
Always you prefer pay with Credit card, with this you have the legal change money. But always have some money in your pockets.
4. Airports:
Review your ticket fly and search for SELLER and OPERATOR enterprises. When you arrive to any airport aks in the desk of the OPERATOR for your fly number.
5. FI_UPM campus
In the fi-upm exist a restaurant for your lunch (5 euros), you have 3 choices for your lunch. The meals are fine. Or you can carry with your meal for the lunch. The restaurant has microwaves for the students use.
